About Us

Mission

BSA was incorporated in 1982 as a nonprofit organization. The mission is to provide structure and training for a competitive soccer experience for youth in Scott County, Iowa. BSA strives to support area youth with training and development of individual and team skills with respect to youth soccer activities. This program continues to fill a need that is not currently supported in most of our school or community sponsored activities. Soccer continues to be one of the fastest growing sports programs in the United States and BSA strives to prepare youth to participate in this sport.

BSA Today

BSA currently develops and supports program development for youth from age 4 through 18. BSA caters to families offering membership into the program. Families are required to volunteer time to assist the organization control costs and are able to participate in BSA activities via a fee based activities program. BSA currently offers programs and events to over 500 families in the area. We have approximately 500 youth playing at the competitive level on soccer teams. We also have over 200 youth ages 4 through 8 participating in programs developing their soccer skills and training to enter competitive programs.

BSA Complex

BSA has developed a soccer complex located in Scott County across from the Deere Davenport Plant at Scott Park Road and 210th Street. It consists of several soccer fields, a concession area, and an education building. Most of our training programs are operating out of this site.. BSA is known to operate quality training and development programs that are designed for the entire family.

Coaching

BSA currently fields over 40 competitive soccer teams from U8 thought U18. We utilize a network of professional coaches and volunteer coaches. We contract with various professional coaches within the area to oversee programs and teams. Many of our younger teams have parent coaches with the older teams generally moving to a licensed coach able to teach competitive skills that move players to a competitive high school environment.

We offer team clinics, individual skills training, camps, indoor winter training including skills and agility, as well as various league opportunities for teams and players.

Costs

Individual development programs including camps, training programs, and skills development are fee based programs open to all individuals on a space available basis.

BSA sponsors teams that train within BSA and participate in various leagues and tournaments. Players on sponsored teams pay a fee to BSA of $100 ($50 per season-spring and fall). This fee covers the use of BSA facilities, oversite, and related equipment during their team experience. All other teams fees such as league fees, tournament, uniforms etc. are the responsibility of the individual and his/her team.

League Play and Tournaments

Teams participate in the Illowa Youth Soccer League operating out of East Moline, Il as well as the Iowa Premier League. Both leagues are competitive soccer leagues. Illowa offers games with generally local travel (less than 25 miles). The Iowa league requires extensive travel to areas such as Cedar rapids or Des Moines. Teams also pick tournament they wish to attend. Tournaments are generally determined via skill levels of the teams.   Teams usually play up to 10 league games in both spring and fall. They also will attend two to four tournaments per year.

Travel

Competitive soccer does require a travel commitment. However, it is a rewarding experience for your child. Competitive sports teach many life skills to youth. Most trips are generally within one to two hours of their home area. Tournament will require out of town travel two to four times per year. However, the rewards of meeting and competing with other youth soccer programs are well worth the time involved.
